Well, this season I have even more reason to look forward to that first fire: the Java Fire Log. What is a Java Fire Log, you ask? Only the coolest fireplace invention ever, in my opinion. You know those great, hot-burning, heat-producing, long-lasting lovely little “pressed” logs you can get by the box almost anywhere in the cold months? You know, the ones that keep you from cutting down the few trees we have in the Southwest?
The Java Fire Log looks a bit like those but here’s the catch: they’re made of recycled coffee grounds! Coffee is a hot and clean burning fuel, less “sooty” (about 96% less) than chemical “pressed” logs, easy to light, more environmentally friendly, and – here’s the best part – NO chemical smell. What you get with these babies is a slightly sweet, faintly coffee-ish aroma, sort-of like burning a caramel-scented candle. Cool, huh?
So open the flue, settle back in your comfy chair with a hot toddy, and make your first cozy fire of the season, caffeine-fueled
