Cullers and Caldwell
A Real-life Dynamic Duo

Though John Cullers and Dalton Caldwell met years ago on the Eastwood Trooper High School football field, it is doubtful in those early days that anyone could have imagined that the two would end up partnering to make one of the most renowned custom builder teams in the region.

If the future truly could be predicted in high school, they should have been voted “Most Likely to Raise the Standard of Living in West Texas and Southern New Mexico”. In fact, this is precisely what they have collaboratively achieved.

After high school Dalton remained in El Paso, attended UTEP and began work as an electrician. With the experience he gained working for Brown & Root, Inc., he went on to become a Master Electrician, and in 1977 partnered with his father in their own electrical contracting company. Meanwhile, John traveled to Tempe, Arizona, then on to Dallas, Texas, to attend college. After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering at Arizona State and a Master’s in Business Administration at Southern Methodist University, John stayed on in Dallas working for Robert E. McKee Construction. In 1979, he decided to return to El Paso and partner with his father, Elmer Cullers, in a home building business. Over the next seven years, Dalton contracted to do the electrical work on the homes that John was building. In 1986, the two decided to officially join forces, thereby creating what is now known as Cullers and Caldwell Builders.

Over the last twenty years the team has carved out a place for themselves second to none in the industry. Their dedication to quality and meticulous attention to detail has truly raised the standard in home building in the region. Though in the early years of their partnership they built homes that were 3,000 square feet, it is more common nowadays for the pair to build in the range of 5,000 to 20,000 square feet and beyond.

Despite building a company that has grown to include thirty-eight employees and contractors, John and Dalton are still very involved with each and every project. They sit down with their clients alongside the designers and architects and hammer out all aspects involved in the planning of every home. As a result, there is no “cookie cutter” finished product in their structures. You recognize a home built by Cullers and Caldwell not by its uniformity with other homes, but by its unique features, custom design and superior workmanship. In addition to homes, the team is also responsible for helping to create shopping centers as well as lavish offices for area doctors, lawyers and other professionals. Whatever the project, the trademark of these builders is incomparable quality.

Whether you are interested in brick, stucco or stone, Southwestern, Tuscan or contemporary design, these builders have you covered. You can be assured that nothing will be overlooked down to the finest detail and specification. Truly, these visionaries are able to perfectly couple the ideas of the homebuilder with the talents of their staff and contractors to accomplish more than you ever thought possible. So, though you may want to build your dream home, Cullers and Caldwell will, in fact, give you the keys to a house that goes far beyond your wildest dreams and expectations.
