A Concrete Option
for Your Old Countertop

Granite and marble countertops have become a standard for beautiful and functional kitchens, but frequently, especially when remodeling an existing home, weight, cost and shape of the quarried stone becomes a limiting factor. Modern technology has contributed products that can now overcome these critical issues and provide a custom countertop specifically designed for your unique requirements and preferences.

One such product, called Granicrete, is a polymer-enriched concrete with a variety of uses. The particular blend used for countertops cures to 3,000 lb. per sq. in., making the countertop actually stronger than granite. A finish utilizing non-porous, food-grade epoxy, is totally safe for food. It is scratch resistant and scorch resistant to over 500°F.

The characteristic that lends itself to home remodeling is that Granicrete can be applied right over an existing countertop. It readily adheres to Formica®, tile and wood, thereby eliminating demolition costs or the forming required for a totally new countertop. The end result is a new monolithic surface, complete with splashboard.

Almost any look can be achieved and hand painting makes it truly unique. The veins and swirls of natural stone are recreated and there is no limit to the colors and shades that can be captured. Finishes can be either matte or gloss and the edges chiseled or flat.

As with any product or process, there are many factors affecting cost. Granicrete, is more cost effective than granite or marble when comparing similar countertops. Resurfacing an existing countertop saves additional money and you can be trained to create the countertop yourself.

A beautiful countertop can become the focal point that influences other changes – or a countertop can be created to enhance the existing kitchen products and configuration. Determine your priorities, talk to the experts and keep moving toward that exciting kitchen makeover.
